Most names given to people, since the beginning of history, were descriptive names developed both from adjectives and nouns, according to the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) College of Arms. The languages used to form common present day names have mostly just become ancient. So, in a sense, one can maybe say celebrities have modernized the names, with everyday meanings, they give their children. Although, the names still seem strange. Here is the list of peculiar names of celebrities’ offspring.

1. Pilot Inspektor Lee

The son of actor Jason Lee and actress Beth Riesgraf.

Apparently, Jason Lee was under the influence of a band called Grandaddy when choosing a name for his son. “The opening track, ‘He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s the Pilot,’ absolutely blew my mind when I first heard it. It was from this track that my wife, Beth, came up with the name Pilot for our son,” said Jason Lee.

2. Apple Martin

The daughter of actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

On an episode of Oprah in August 2004 Gwyneth Paltrow explained that Chris Martin first suggested the name Apple for their daughter. “It sounded so sweet and it conjured such a lovely picture for me – you know, apples are so sweet and they’re wholesome and it’s biblical – and I just thought it sounded so lovely and…clean! And I just thought, ‘Perfect!’ ” said the actress.

3. Sage Moonblood Stallone

The son of actor Sylvester Stallone and photographer Sasha Czack.

Perhaps Sylvester Stallone confused the pagan dictionary for a book on baby names when choosing a name for his child.

4 & 5. True Whitaker and Ocean Whitaker

The daughter and son of actor Forest Whitaker.

Explaining the reasoning behind naming his children, Forest Whitaker said: “I want those names to be their destiny, for my daughter to be honest and my son to be expansive. I try to be like a forest, revitalizing and constantly growing.”

6. Prince Michael Jackson II/Blanket

The son of singer Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson named his first son after himself, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., but called him Prince Michael. When his third child was born, another son, he also named him Prince Michael Jackson II. Zero points for creativity. He called Prince Michael II “Blanket.”

7. Blue Angel Evans

The daughter of U2 guitarist The Edge and Aislinn O’Sullivan.

The Edge has never said why he chose to call his child “Blue Angel,” but it is also the name of the blue and yellow U.S. Navy flying acrobatic squadron planes, a 1930s film and a Roy Orbison song.

8. Audio Science Clayton

The son of actress Shannyn Sossamon and author Dallas Clayton.

This must be one of the most curious names of them all. When defending her choice of name for her child, Shannyn Sossamon said: “We wanted a word, not a name, so my boyfriend read through the dictionary three or four times. We were going to call him Science, but thought it might get shortened to Sci, as in Simon.”

9 & 10. Moon Unit Zappa and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen Zappa

The daughters of musician Frank Zappa and Gail Zappa.

Reportedly Diva earned her name for being a noisy baby. This does not explain why her middle names are “Thin Muffin Pigeen.” Luckily she is usually called only by her first and last name – Diva Zappa.

When Moon was born, Gail Zappa selected her first name out of the two options she was presented with by Frank Zappa – Moon and Motörhead. Her middle name, Unit, reflects the way the family felt when she was born.

11. Moxie Crimefighter Jillette

The daughter of magician Penn Jillette and his wife Emily Zolten.

Apparently, the couple decided that since middle names are never used they are going to have some fun with it. “Moxie is a name that was created by an American for the first national soft drink and then went on to mean chutzpah, and that’s nice,” said Penn Jillette. He defended his unusual choice of name for his child by saying: “It’s only the losers named Dave that think having an unusual name is bad, and who cares what they think. They’re named Dave.”

12. Tu Morrow

The daughter of actor Rob Morrow and actress Debbon Ayer.

While her full name is Tu Simon Ayer Morrow, the pun in Tu Morrow’s name is painfully obvious. “It’s a tradition,” said Rob Morrow, whose wife is named Debbon Ayer. “She is debonair!”

13. Jermajesty Jackson

The son of singer Jermaine Jackson and his ex-wife Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza.

Jermaine Jackson is clearly a fan of the letter “J,” as proven by the names of his first three children – Jeremy, Jourdynn and Jaafar – but he got extra creative when naming his fourth child.

14, 15, 16 & 17. Daisy Boo Pamela Oliver, Buddy Bear Maurice Oliver, Petal Blossom Rainbow Oliver, Poppy Honey Rosie Oliver and River Rocket Oliver

The children of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and model Juliette Norton.

The biggest slot on this list goes to the five children of Jamie Oliver and his wife. The couple has become known for their crazy baby names. “They all have more than one name because I couldn’t decide. I’m not sure where Petal Rainbow came from – apparently it’s a My Little Pony! I wanted to call her Rainbow but Jamie told me to calm down. With Buddy it was quite fun choosing a boy’s name, as I hadn’t done it before. And I hate people’s opinions on names. Whatever you call your baby is your decision,” said Juliette Norton.

18, 19 & 20. Fifi Trixibelle Geldof, Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof and Little Pixie Geldof

The daughters of singer Bob Geldof and his ex-wife Paula Yates.

“Why do the rich and famous give their children such ridiculous names? Mine has haunted me all my life, and will continue to do so,” said Peaches Geldof, who was reportedly teased at school with cries of: “Oi, Peaches, are your parents bananas?” It could have been worse. She could’ve had the name of her maternal half-sister, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof.
